The first 100 life-size bronzes of The Long March to Freedom can be viewed at the Fountains Recreation Resort in the City of Tshwane, Gauteng. The statues are within walking distance of the resort’s recreational facilities, which include pools, braai facilities, a caravan park, a restaurant and kiosk. As it is an outdoor sculpture park, sunscreen and sunhats are highly recommended.



  • Take the Eeufees Road offramp from the M14 highway.

  • Turn right into Eeufees road.

  • Drive straight into the Fountains Recreation Resort entrance on Christina de Wit Avenue.

  • Once inside the resort, keep left until you see the procession of 56 figures on your right.

  • From Pretoria’s Fountains Circle, take the Fountains/Centurion turn-off into Christina de Wit Road.

  • The entrance to the Fountains Recreation Resort is about 500m along the road, on your left.

  • Once in the resort, keep left until you see the statues

* Over weekends and on public holidays, visitors can use the alternative entrance gate 800m from the Fountains Recreation Resort main entrance gate.

General Rules & Regulations

Right of admission is reserved.

A speed limit of 20km per hour must be maintained.

All traffic rules are also applicable in this resort.

Firearms, traps, snares, catapults or other similar weapons or devices are prohibited.

Nobody may bring a domestic or wild animal into the resort or caravan park.

Fire may only be made at braais. It is an offence to throw away any burning object.

Nobody may gather firewood in the resort. Firewood is available at the kiosk.

Refuse, litter and other harmful objects or liquids may be thrown away only in containers and places indicated for that purpose.

The water of any dam, water-course, lake or pan may be polluted.

No excessive noise or irresponsible behaviour is allowed.

The municipality reserves the right to search any vehicle without furnishing reasons and without a warrant.

Instructions of the resort manager must be obeyed.

Municipality property may not be damaged.

Contraveners of these rules and all other regulations are liable to prosecution.
